Strapless Gingham

I am so glad it is finally spring. I just love the sight of flowers blooming, the daylight lasting longer and most importantly the flowy and dreamy dresses that come into stores in Spring like this strapless gingham number I'm sharing today. I can't wait to wear this, enjoying a picnic in the park or visiting some local markets, if I ever get some down time on the weekends - which seems to be non-existent at the moment thanks to endless mid-semester exams. Never fear though, mid-semester break is coming soon (at least this is what I keep telling myself as I'm cramming in my lectures on spinal surgery in dogs this weekend) and I'll definitely be getting out in the sun and hopefully documenting it over on Instastories and through my Instagram posts. (My username is @anninthedollhouse in case any of you would like to follow along!) For now though, I need to get back to study. Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

Mum Jeans & Blush Tees

Supre Cropped Blush T-Shirt (Similar Here), Wrangler Jeans, Target Mules (Similar Here)

If you find a rustic pale pink staircase it's practically a crime not to stop and take a few photos right? I love how these photos turned out and most of all I love these jeans! I never thought I would be into mum jeans but these high-waisted ones are perfect. They're just the right level of bagginess to be stylish, but not hobbo. And a hundred times more comfortable than my Levis skinnies. Paired with a tee and some comfy mules and you're set for a day of cosy style.

The days have definitely been getting warmer recently and I am so ready for spring and all the pretty outfits I have planned, watch this space! Anyway I am off to study for a chicken medicine and radiology exam. Hoping you are all having a great week!

Blush Knits & Floral Dresses

I've been so in love with the trend of wearing jumpers under summer dresses lately! I'm such a summer girl and love buying summer dresses and outfits but can struggle with how to style myself in winter without looking like a cocooned caterpillar that hates the cold. Which is why this trend is probably the best thing to ever happen to me. Now I can use my summer dress buying addiction to my advantage in winter too and look stylish doing it! I have a tonne of uni work to catch up on, so I'm keeping it short and sweet today. Hope you are all going well. Speak again soon,

White Lace & Bell Sleeves

Princess Polly White Lace Top, A-brand Shorts (From Universal Store) (similar here), Dotti Belt, Windsor Smith Boots (similar here), Necklace from West End Markets Brisbane (similar here)

I feel like this top speaks for itself. It's such a stand-out piece that there really isn't much for me to say about it other than I'm obsessed with it. I love the mesh and lace detailing on the bell sleeves, the floral applique around the neckline, the pretty white lace and the cropped cut making it perfect to wear with anything high waisted - always a positive in my case. Here I styled this top with some denim shorts, vintage styled belt and black leather boots - perfect for festival however you could definitely make this look more girly with an A-line skirt or trousers and sandals. However you wear this top though, it's sure to be a stand-out!

I really wanted to get this outfit up before Splendour in the Grass as a little festival fashion inspiration but encountered many difficulties in getting these photos. I hope however they at least help to ease those post-festival blues. Besides frolicking around in this pretty top I am now back at uni, starting my last semester of lectures and theory before we jump straight into our final clinical year that consists entirely of placements. I'm super excited to finally almost be at a point where I get to put my knowledge into practice and save animals, however also completely terrified that I don't yet know enough. But I guess like all things, including when I started this blog, and when I started vet school, you have to trust yourself to work it all out and simply start somewhere.
Speak again soon,

Blush Tulle & Vintage Tee

Dotti Skirt (Similar Here), Thrills Tee-Shirt from Princess Polly, Assembly Denim Jacket from Universal Store (Similar Here), Windsor Smith Boots, K-mart Socks, Quay Eyewear Sunglasses

I'm finally back with a new post, and none less than a pink tulle skirt. I'm obsessed with this outfit, and although I'm not sure if I'd be brave enough to wear this pink tulle skirt out in public I love it anyway. It's just super cute and very me but I definitely feel like pairing it with a vintage T-shirt and leather boots helps tone the girliness down a bit. It's uni holidays at the moment, so expect to see a whole lot of new posts being put up on the blog soon!

All my love,

Blush Sweater & Ripped Jeans

H&M Blush Sweater, Dotti Boyfriend Jeans, Converse Sneakers

The winter most definitely hit us this week, and I couldn't think of a more perfect outfit than this comfy blush sweater, ripped jeans and converse. It may not be a particularly fancy outfit but I love the casual street style look for those lazy days. Or in my case now when you're locked away studying for finals. Ahh how is it June already? Vet school has definitely kicked it up a notch this semester but I feel like it's a sign the end of this long and hard degree is getting closer. And after these set of exams I'll have a few weeks to focus on creating more blog content! But for now I hope you enjoy this post.

Embroidered Floral Crop & Bralette

Floral Embroidered Mesh Crop (Dissh, get it here!), Bralette (Cotton On Body, Similar Here), Shorts (Princess Polly, Similar Here)

If you're trying to figure out what to wear to any up-comoing festivals, namely Splendour in the Grass in Byron Bay, look no further than this pretty floral mesh embroidered top from Dissh boutique paired with a cute lacey bralette. I am so in love with this top, the bell sleeves, the cute embroidery and the ability to layer it with a bralette! Although I'm not actually going to Splendour in the Grass this would definitely be my go-to outfit. It would also look super cute paired with a pastel pink or black coloured a-line mini skirt or shorts and boots. The boots I'm wearing here are my trusty black windsor smiths, however it's a tad hard to see in this super-long grass!

Besides frolicking around in grass fields taking these photos, uni has been grilling me to the max. But exciting news, I get to do my first live surgery next week on a pig! Also as exam time again creeps closer don't be alarmed if the blog seems kind of quiet, I will definitely be back to posting again as soon as the torture is over.

Anyway I hope you feel inspired by this outfit for the upcoming festivals and if you're after more inspiration, you can check out this post and this post from my previous years festival-inspired outfits!

Sporty Crops and Converse

Supre Sporty Crop Top (similar here), Dotti Button Up Skirt (similar here), Converse Sneakers

I've been super into casual basics lately and this cute sporty crop from Supre is no exception! It's hard to see in photos but it actually has gold sparkly threads weaved into the fabric, making it just that little bit extra special. So easy to style too - just chuck on a pair of your favourite sneakers - mine are Converse - and you're set for that casual street style vibe.

Besides getting back into the swing of things at uni after our mid-semester break I've been to a Hen's party in Broadbeach and shooting heaps of fun outfits for you guys! Winter is coming, I feel it so I'm trying to get prepared by shooting some winter outfits for inspiration. If you're not already too, make sure to keep up to date with what I'm up to on my instagram - @anneinthedollhouse. Anyway I need to rush off to uni now, speak soon lovelies!

Gingham Skater Shorts

Glassons Singlet, Luck & Trouble Gingham Skater Shorts (Similar Here), Betts Sandals (Similar Here)

Hands up if you're obsessed with gingham this season! I'm absolutely loving this trend at the moment so thought I should share with you one of the gingham pieces I'm currently obsessed with! These Gingham skater shorts flare out kind of like a skater skirt, giving you feminine and pretty silhouette. And I just loved them paired with these sandals. Spring perfection! (If you're from the northern hemisphere that is). I'm on mid-semester break now so it's time for me to create some more content! Hope everyone has a relaxing and safe Easter long weekend.

How I Styled the Lazy T-Shirt Dress for a Casual Night Out

Factorie T-Shirt Dress,  Assembly Denim Jacket, Lovisa Earrings, The Horse Watch, Sportsgirl Clutch, Windsor Smith 'Grinded' Boots

I styled this outfit for a night out at a Vallis Alps concert in Brisbane the other night. Believe it or not it's actually a men's T-shirt! I just love how comfy and versatile shirt 'dresses' (or men's t-shirts) can be! I wanted a casual but put together street-style look so I started by pairing the dress with a denim jacket and black leather boots. I then added these amazing purple fluffy earrings from Lovisa for a fun pop of colour that transformed the look into a more girly and fun style. And for practicality added this plain black fold-over clutch which I feel matched the look perfectly.

I definitely feel like this look was perfect for a casual night out, especially the comfy T-shirt dress which helped hide the massive dinner I had! Overall I had an amazing night, Vallis Alps were amazing, their music is entrancing and mesmerizing, and they were even better live than I expected. Have you guys heard they're playing at Splendour in the Grass this year?! I'd definitely be keen to go just to see them again! Hope all is well with all of you, speak soon.

Florals for Days / High-Waisted Floral Maxi Skirt

I know, I know again with the bardot tops. I can't help it I'm obsessed! (#sorrynotsorry) But I think our attention needs to be focused on the main star of the show: this gorgeous high waisted floral maxi skirt. It's so beautiful! I love the floral pattern and feel of the fabric and the high waisted style with the thigh split. It's spring perfection! I so wish we were heading into spring here in Australia rather than Autumn, but either way I'm going to wear this floral skirt until I absolutely have to wear pants.

I also need to apologise about the blurriness of the skirt in some of these photos, it was super windy on this day! However I kind of tried to embrace it and I actually like the imperfectness of these photos. It definitely helps show off how flowy this amazing skirt is, so much so that it made me feel like a princess with a train in some of these photos!

I wore this skirt out on an afternoon tea picnic a couple of weeks ago and I decided to include a few snaps of the picnic since I felt like it fit in with girly and hipster vibe of the skirt. Hope you guys enjoy! I'm feeling hungry just look at this afternoon feast!
